Consumer engagement quality and safety marker - experiences of the pilot sites
The Health Quality & Safety Commission is running two webinars to assist district health board (DHB) managers and staff responsible for implementation of the new consumer engagement quality and safety marker (QSM).

The consumer engagement QSM seeks to answer the question ‘What does successful consumer engagement look like, and (how) does it improve the quality and safety of services?.
The reporting requirement for this QSM can be found in the Ministry of Health’s 2020/21 DHB Annual Plan and Planning Priorities Guidance. DHBs are expected to participate in the QSM for consumer engagement by:

- setting up a governance group (or an oversight group) of staff and consumers to guide
implementation of the marker

- submitting local data via an online form using the SURE framework as a guide

- reporting against the framework at least annually by quarter 3.
